Change the Cache Size for Network Word Documents (All Windows) Category: Home > Software > Microsoft Office > Word
When Microsoft Word 2002 reads a file from a network location (UNC), it reads the file into the default 64 kilobyte (KB) page buffer memory. With larger documents this may not be sufficient and cause a delay as changes are made to the document. This tweak allows you to increase the buffer size so that the whole document can be read at once. Open your registry and find the key below. Create a new DWORD value, or modify the existing value called 'CACHESIZE' using the settings below. Exit your registry, you may need to restart or log out of Windows for the change to take effect.
